Regional Track Meet

The Sandpoint girls won the Regional Championships this weekend this weekend at Lewiston's Volmer Bowl. The distance was paced by a 3200 Regional title for Sydney Foster, running a PR 12:50. Aubrie Perry placed 3rd to score in a 12:54, missing the 2nd place State qualifier by .01 seconds. In the 1600, Sydney placed 2nd, running another PR 5:52. Aubrie was 4th in a 6:07, and Jenny Van Ooyen was 5th in a 6:20. For the 800, Bree Jones was unable to fully recover from Bronchitis, but ran hard for 4th in a 2:45.

The boys were second at regionals, and the distance events were paced by Sam Levora who won both races. He ran the 3200 in a 9:46, and the 1600 in a 4:30, closing in the school record in both. James Cartwright earned his place at State by finishing 2nd in the 3200, in a PR time of 10:02. James was also 4th in the mile 4:46. Matt Burgstahler also placed 2nd in the 800, earning a trip to state. He ran a 2:07.
