SHSXC Time Trial Results

Sandpoint Cross Country held their annual Time Trials today at Travers park, and had 9 boys and 11 girls break the Varsity Standard over the 5k course. The girls were led by State Medalist Mikhaela Woodward, who ran nearly a minute PR to cover the course in 18:39. Following Mikhaela was Sophomore Rainey Woodward in a 19:48 and freshman Katherine Kaul with a 19:51. Claire Pierce ran a minute PR with a 20:49, and Emily Marshall rounded out the scoring 5 with a 21:26. Sharon Rowe was 6th with a 21:29 and Lauren Orr 7th with a 21:57. 11 girls beat the varsity standard, and the girls team looks poised and ready to compete this season!


The boys team also had a strong showing, with Sam Powell finishing first with a 16:50 and setting a new 30 second PR. Jacob Graham also broke 17, running a 16:57 and running a 45 second PR. Kenny Kovalchuk was 3rd with a 17:22, Andy McGinnis 4th with a 17:24, and Matt Cloud rounded out the top 5 with a 17:39 (all personal records). Mark Kennaly was 6th with an 18:06, and Riley Wolfe 7th with an 18:37. This is the best start for the boys team since 2010, and their depth has them ready to compete well.

The first race for SHSXC will be Saturday the 30th in Libby.
