With Spring Break over, the Sandpoint High School Track & Field season is in full swing. This Wednesday the hosted a quad meet with Lake City, Post Falls and Lakeland. Both the boys and girls won the meet with the boys scored 111 points to 2nd place Lakeland's 55, and the girls won with 82 points over 2nd place Lakeland's 73. There were 44 individual PRs set by Sandpoint at the meet! With 4 teams the meet is scored 6 points for first, 4 for second, 3 for third, 2 for fourth and 1 for fifth for individual. Relays were scored 6, 4, 2.

The meet started off with the 4x200 relays, and the relay teams continued to perform very well, winning 4 of 6 for the afternoon. The boys 4x200 of Braden Kappen, Tyren Witthaus, Ammon Ollerton, and Julian Barajas took first with a 1:35.63. The girls team of Ciera Bailey, Heather Yunek, Valerie Wickboldt and Jazmin Stockton was second in 1:51 to Post Falls. In the 4x100 Heather Yunek, Val Wickboldt, Bailee Klopman and Jazmin Stockton took first in 52:78, while the boys team of Julian Barajas, Tyren Witthaus, Ammon Ollerton and TJ Davis also took first with a 45.13. In the 4x400, Sloan Woodward, Seth Graham, Peik Lund-Andersen and Kyle Almeida won with 3:38, and the girls team of Ciera Bailey, Niah Brass, Paige Davidson and Hannah Davidson was 3rd in 4:22.

In the sprint events, Julain Barajas was first in the 100 with a 11.68, followed by T.J. Davis in 2nd with 11.77 and Tyren Witthaus in 3rd with an 11.94. The girls 100 had Jazmin Stockton in 13.16 for 2nd place and Heather Yunek in 13.94 for 4th place. The 200 meter had 1 scorer, Valerie Wickboldt was 3rd in 27.78. In the 400 Kyle Almeida took first in 53.80 for the boys, while Ciera Bailey ran a 1:05.49 for 2nd in the girls. T.J. David won the 110m high hurdles with a time of 15.72 and the 300m hurdles in 44.53, while Paige Davidson took 2nd in the 300 hurdles with a 52.2.

The distance events showed depth and strength as well. In the 800, Sloan Woodward was first with a 2:05, while Peik Lund-Andersen was 2nd in 2:10. For the girls Kali Scheel was 2nd in 2:33, while Bionce Vincent placed 5th in 2:37. The girls 1600 was won by Hannah Davidson in a PR time of 5:19, followed by teammate Niah Brass in 3rd for 5:38. The boys took first, second and third in the 1600 with Garrett Pierce winning in 4:44.61, Kieran Wilder in 2nd with a 4:44.8, and Nikolai Braedt 3rd in 4:56.4. In the 3200, Heather Wallace placed 2nd in 12:28, Kalie Scheel 3rd in 13:02 and Corina Wallace 4th in 13:14. For the boy Gabe Merithew was 2nd in 10:57 and Cole Dillon was 3rd in 11:01.

In the field events, Hannah Davidson won the pole vault in 8'6" with Paige Davidson placing 3rd in 7'6". Sam Diercks placed 2nd for the boys in 11'. In the long jump, Maddie Morgan lept to 14'11 for first, as well as jumping 33'2 in the triple to get that win as well. Garrett Chandler was first in the boys long jump with a 19' jump. Payton Finney was 3rd in 17' 2.5", and Williamn Dorman tied with teammate Ryan Bloomberg for 4th in 17'1. In the boys triple jump Ammon Ollerton won with a 38'2" leap. Ammon also won the boys High Jump in 6'. Elain Huang was 3rd in the girls High Jump in 4'8". The girls shot put had 2 scorers, with Makayla Chapman in 4th with 29' 4.5" and Victoria Aylward in 5th with 28' 11"

21 Sandpoint Athletes have met qualifying standards and will compete at the Pasco Invitational this coming Saturday.
