Upland Cutover

This is a nice little break from the same old Pine Crest Loop. Pine street and up through the cemetary. Once you are at the bottom of the hill on the other side and have rounded the corner, watch for a driveway size road to the right and take that. Stay right at the fork and when you get to upland take a left and hook into Pine Street and back to the HS.

I haven't seen too many American distance men on the international scene willing to take risks. I saw some U.S. women in Barcelona willing to risk, more than men. The Kenyans risk. Steve Prefontaine risked. I risked—I went through the first half of the Tokyo race just a second off my best 5000 time.
