Long Runs

Endurance is the base that everything else is built off of during a running season. These typically start with long runs at a comfortable aerobic pace until the body is in shape and able to start running faster speeds. The distance and speed during these workouts are largely dependent on your experience running and how good of shape you are in when you start your program. They increase in intensity as the season progresses.

Example 1: LSD (Long Slow Distance)

Run 6-9 miles at a comfortable pace with some mild hills mixed throughout. You should be able to carry on a conversation during your workout without being out of breath or being uncomfortable.
